NEW ORLEANS, La. (SUN BELT) - Registration for the Sun Belt Conference's 4th annual Dribble Drive is now open.
The Dribble Drive to the Summit will feature kindergarten through sixth grade children dribbling basketballs through a quarter mile stretch of downtown Hot Springs. The event will be held prior to the quarterfinal games of the 2013 Sun Belt Men's and Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday, March 9.
The Dribble Drive to the Summit will begin at Hill Wheatly Plaza with registration opening at 9:30 a.m. and the festivities starting at 10:30 a.m. At the start of the event, kids will be asked to participate in basic basketball drills before dribbling their new basketballs down the street to the Hot Springs Convention center.
Registered participants will receive a free Sun Belt Conference prize pack consisting of a t-shirt, basketball, and complimentary tickets to the first session games. Each participating child will receive a ticket for one accompanying parent.
"We have had great participation in this event the last couple of years and we are hoping to grow the event even more this year," said Sun Belt Conference Senior Associate Commissioner Dr. Kathy Keene. "This is a great way to involve the Hot Springs community with a family friendly activity and it allows us to invite fans into our tournament at no charge."
Dribblers and parents are encouraged to stay for the games and participate in on-court activities. Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy a number of kid-friendly concourse activities inside of the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Interested kids are encouraged to pre-register.
The Dribble Drive to the Summit is just one of many great activities that will surround the 2013 Sun Belt Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. Details regarding other promotional events will follow in the upcoming weeks.
