LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Clinton National Airport is working to finish up its $67 million construction project.

According to public affairs and governmental relations director Shane Carter, the new ticket lobby will be complete by May 1.

The project also includes an in-line baggage system and security checkpoint expansion along with relocating the airport communication center, said Carter. Majority of the construction dollars were spent locally with contractors in the Little Rock, North Little Rock, Hot Springs and the Conway areas, and none of the construction was paid for by tax dollars.

He added that their goal is to make a lasting impression on those traveling through the state of Arkansas.

"Overall, a lot of Arkansas finishes. There is limestone that is being used in the building and a lot of things that really showcase Arkansas' natural beauty," he said, "And with that, it helps to give us a positive impression for those who visit."

The airport is coming in around $5 million under budget, and Carter said this remodel is setting them up for a much larger construction project later on.
