FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) -- High school football running back Alex Collins out of Plantation,Florida announced he will play college football for the University ofArkansas.
Collins is considered by several recruiting experts to the best running back out of the state of Florida. Rivals.com and ESPN rated Collins as a four-star running back, while Scoutand247 Sports have him as a five-star recruit.
Collins chose the Razorbacks over the University of Miami, as well as other Florida schools like Florida State and UF. He originally committed to Miami, but withdrew that verbal commitment in December.
He had been considering the University of Wisconsin at one point. When new Hogs coach Bret Bielema made the move to Arkansas, Collins became more interested in the school. Bielema's recruiting staff has put a lot of effort into pursuing Collins over the past few weeks.
Collins is the latest on a long list of high school senior Bielema has recruited for the 2013 football season. The latest additions include safety Korliss Marshall of Osceola, running back Denzell Evans of Bellaire, Texas and athlete Melvinson Hartfield of Dallas, Texas.
Monday, Razorback recruiting expert, Trey Biddy with HawgSports.com, chimes offers his thoughts on the latest Razorback commit.
Tuesday, Jim Harris with Sporting Life Arkansas sat down with Craig O'Neill to talk about the impact of Alex Collins' commitment and what it means for NLR prospect Altee Tenpenny.
