NEW ORLEANS, LA (CBS) -- It's Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday. About a million people are partying in the streets of New Orleans.
From hotel balconies to packed streets, party-goers are taking over New Orleans. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit here during Mardi Gras. For police, that means constant crowd control.
The parade will go about five miles through New Orleans. There are 27 floats and they are throwing everything from beads to coins to hurricane glasses.
Some kids in the crowd scoped out spots hours before the parade. One person says, "We gotta get first row. I don't want to be in the back. I don't want to be stuck."
But Mardi Gras veterans know how to just go with the flow. Mardi Gras means big fun in the Big Easy, and the good times are rolling all night, and all day.
