Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Veteran guard Derek Fisher is back withthe Oklahoma City Thunder.

Fisher signed an undisclosed contract with the team on Monday. He played ninegames for Dallas earlier this season and averaged 8.6 points with 3.6 assistsbefore asking for his release in December to return to his family in LosAngeles.

The 38-year-old veteran played 20 games in the regular season with the Thunderlast year after signing as a free agent in March, and also appeared in 20playoff games.

"We are excited to welcome Derek back to the Thunder organization," saidgeneral manager Sam Presti. "He contributed to our team in various ways lastseason, and we are looking forward to him joining us again."

Fisher averaged 4.9 points and 1.4 assists for Oklahoma City during theregular season, then increased his production during the playoffs by averaging6.3 points as the Thunder advanced to the NBA Finals.

A five-time NBA champion with the Lakers, Fisher was traded by Los Angeles toHouston at the deadline last year but never played for the Rockets. He wasbought of his contract and joined the Thunder for their stretch run.

Oklahoma City had a roster spot for another guard after sending Eric Maynor toPortland at last week's trade deadline.

Fisher has career averages of 8.6 points and 3.1 assists in 17 NBA seasonswith the Lakers, Warriors, Jazz, Thunder and Mavericks.
