DREW COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - A Drew County deputy was shot twice during a routine traffic stop.

The Drew County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Jeremy Chapman was shot Wednesday at 10:25 p.m.

Authorities say Nicholas Bray, 34 from Cleveland County, left the scene after the shooting which led to a manhunt.

The Arkansas Department of Correction - Cummins Unit brought in their prison's tracking dogs.

Bray was found dead in a deer stand near his home from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Deputy Chapman was taken to the hospital where he is stable. Authorities say he is improving.

Bradley County, Chicot County, and Desha County Sheriff's Departments as well as the Monticello Police Department and Drug Task Force assisted.
