ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (HSU) -- Henderson State's Matt Jennings and Jared Black were named to the 2013 Great American Conference All-Conference Men's Golf Team announced by the league office on Monday.
Jennings earned first-team honors for the second time, while Black was an honorable mention honoree after being a second-team selection in 2012.
The all-conference selection for Jennings is his third overall as he was a second-team All-Gulf South Conference pick in 2011.
The junior from Prairie City, Iowa finished third at the 2013 GAC Golf Championships two weeks ago having a three-day total 219, 3-over par.
Jennings had four top 10 finishes on the season including a second-place finish at the First Federal Bank Invitational and a seventh-place finish at the Jim Bishop Toyota Classic. Jennings, a two-time All-GAC Tournament selection, has a 74.42 stroke average this season in 19 rounds, and has turned in seven rounds of par or better.
Black finished 21st at the GAC Championships in Hot Springs, and was second at the Dave Falconer Memorial. The senior from Camden, Ark. has a 75.78 scoring average over 18 rounds of competition.
Jennings and Black will lead the Reddies to the NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Regional in Kenosha, Wisconsin beginning May 6.
Henderson State will be participating in its first regional since 2002.
