FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) - Senior captain Hope McLemore was named to the SEC Community Service Team. The team was announced by the conference office on Monday.
McLemore is on track to graduate with her bachelor's degree in education in community health promotion later this month. Named the 2012-13 Razorback Foundation Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, McLemore is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll, was named to the Chancellor's Honor Roll and earned distinction as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete.
In addition, McLemore is a team captain and a four-year letter-winner as a pitcher. She ranks in the Top 10 all-time in UA history in strikeouts, wins, games started, shutouts, strikeouts, complete games, batters faced and innings pitched. McLemore is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta National Health Pre-professional Honor Society and a member of the Arkansas Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, upon which she currently serves as vice president. She is the co-founder and president of Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots Arkansas Chapter and interned at the Pat Walker Health Center. She is heavily involved in a number of various community initiatives, including Book Hogs, Sweat Hawgs, the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter and Residential Community, the Samaritan Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and the Full Circle Food Pantry.
McLemore and her teammates begin postseason play this Thursday when they take on No. 11 Missouri in the SEC Tournament. The game is slated for 5:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPNU.
