LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A group in Saline County is rallying together this weekend to honor a Bryant man.
They are our newest inductees into our THV's Hero Central.
Organizers Tony Trantham, Jerri Russenberger and Karla Roberts joined Tom on "THV 11 This Morning" to talk about the first Chuck Matthews Rib and Chili Cook-Off.
The cookoff will be May 18 (May 17th would have been his 50th birthday) at Mills Park in Bryant at the big field from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There will be a live auction, free drawings, and several booths including kettle corn, Scentsy, Memorial and Cook-Off Shirts and decals featuring Chuck's yellow corvette.
Ribs, chili and side dishes are made on site and from scratch. Desserts can be made at home.
Registration starts at 7 a.m. Judging will be at 5 p.m. $10 entry fee per dish. Trophies will be awarded to the top three in each category along with prize money.
Thunder for Chuxter Bike Run starts at 10 a.m. at Rosemont Cemetery in Benton ending destination at the cook-off. Entry fee is $10 per rider.
All are welcome to eat for a donation. Funds will be going towards the Chuck Matthews Memorial Fund at Arvest Bank for his funeral expenses.
Chuck was a well known DJ/Karaoke and IT Specialist. More than 500 signed his book at the visitation and funeral. Chuck passed on January 23, 2013 age 49.
