LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (June 8, 2013) -- School is out and to keep our kids from getting into trouble over the summer, Arkansas's Stop the Violence is holding their Youth Conference 2013 this weekend.

"We try to keep the kids focused," explains Stop the Violence founder Rev. Benny Johnson. "A lot of times you'll see on the news negative things that kids are doing--we want to show them the positive things."

The annual two-night youth explosion will feature Quinton Ellis, Jacquez Swanigan, Erin Knight, Kid Smart and various youth around the state. Prizes will be giving out each night, and the person who bring the most people will win a special prize.

Organizers expect around 1,000 people to attend, with all ages welcome to this free event.

The Youth Conference starts tonight at 6 p.m. at the Greater Trinity Church of God in Christ, located at 2400 Wright Ave in Little Rock. Sunday's service also begins at 6 p.m.

THV 11's Melissa Dunbar-Gates spoke to Rev. Johnson, Director Walter Crockran and singer Jacquez Swanigan with a preview of the conference. Click on the THVideo!
