NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - North Little Rock Police have identified the body found in Burns Park on Saturday.

Sergeant Brian Dedrick said Delfino Hernandez, 58, of Mexico, was found dead near the Arkansas River at Burns Park around 10:30 a.m. by a fisherman. Police said they retrieved the body from the "backwater," which is about a half mile from the Burns Park boat ramp.

Dedrick said Hernandez was apparently headed to Florida for work. He said Hernandez was originally from Mexico and was traveling with a friend when he began to hallucinate in Mobile, Ala. That's when the friend Hernandez was with lost contact with him; somehow Hernandez found his way to Arkansas.

The body was turned over to the Pulaski County Coroner's Office and was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification and determination of cause of death. Police are still gathering information on the events leading up to Hernandez's death.
