LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A terrifying home invasion in broad daylight leaves one man in the hospital. Police said two armed men broke into a home on Jefferson Street and shot a man all for a 61-inch television.
"Just a normal day, and they just bust right on in here," recalled Lela Mae Nation. "I was calling on the name of Jesus because that is all I know."
It only took a few seconds she said for two men to bust through her door Friday around 1 p.m. Nation said one man went for her 61-inch television, and the other pulled a weapon. That is when she called for her son in the other room. When he came out, he was shot in the foot by one of the men.
"When I called Isaac, I kept saying 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. He shot the pistol,'" described Nation. "My son hollered out, and I asked him, I said 'Are you hurt?' He said 'Yes ma'am, Momma, they shot me.'"
Patterson underwent surgery Friday afternoon, and is expected to recover. Though the two armed robbers got away with Nation's television, she's grateful she and her son got away with their lives.
"I thank God that it wasn't as bad as it could have been, but one thing I've found out is if you call on the name of Jesus, he will answer prayer. I'm praying for those young men. I'm not angry at all with neither one of them, but God is going to take care of that," added Nation.
Police said the shooter is a black male wearing all black clothing. His accomplice was another black male in a white tank top and tan shorts. If you have any information, you are encouraged to contact Little Rock Police as soon as possible at (501) 371-4621.
