CONWAY, Ark. (UCA) -- After making the first two starts of her career for the Central Arkansas Women's Soccer Team, Hayley Romero has earned her first career honors, being named the Southland Conference's Goalkeeper of the Week.

Romero, of Yorba Linda, California, appeared in her first career game on Friday, making the start against Mississippi Valley State. She made one save, earning her first career shutout as the Bears picked up the 4-0 victory. On Sunday against Louisiana Tech, Romero picked up her second shutout of the week, making six saves as the Bears got the 2-0 victory.

Romero and the Bears return to the field on Friday evening to face off with in-state opponent Arkansas State in the first night game in Central Arkansas history. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 pm and will be preceded by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a ceremonial first goal. The first 100 fans will receive a shirt commemorating the occasion and halftime will feature on-field promotions.
