CABOT, Ark. (KTHV) - A Cabot woman said a proposed Neighborhood Walmart to be built next door to her will ruin her property value.

"I'm sure the parking lot is going to be at the edge of my property," said Beckie Hawley.

Hawley said the retail giant initially discussed buying her home, but the talk went cold.

"They approached me and had me come and sign a contract," said Hawley. "They were surveying and doing things to the property next to us, but they weren't coming on mine, so I called our real estate agent."

Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert said two owners requested the city to change their zoning to commercial.

"Two property owners on Campground Road represented by a proxy agent have requested rezoning from r1 to c2," said Mayor Cypert. "On the east side, the back side of the lots on Campground Road there would have to be a 40 foot buffer zone with a privacy fence."
