ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (HSU) -- Henderson State fans can follow the nationally-ranked Reddies on the Reddie Sports Network, every game during the 2013 season.
Reddie football can be heard on 100.9 KDEL FM in Arkadelphia, 1310 AM KZNG in Hot Springs and online. Phil Elson begins his third season as the Voice of the Reddies with RJ Hawk providing color commentary.
Joining the team this year will be Hunter Lively of the Henderson State sports information department. Lively will provide sideline reports before, during and after the game.
Elson has been the Voice of the Arkansas Travelers for the past 13 seasons. He joined the Travelers prior to the 2001 season as the first full time home-and-road broadcaster in Travs history. Elson has 18 seasons of experience in professional baseball, including 15 years on the radio. Phil has also worked for baseball teams in Stockton, Calif; Ogden, Utah; Helena, Mont; Akron, Ohio; Pittsburgh and Fayetteville, NC. He was voted the 2009 Arkansas Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
A native of Pittsburgh, Elson also is the play-by-play voice of the UALR men's and women's basketball teams. Elson and his wife Julie met at Ray Winder Field on the last day of the 2001 season. The couple have two children.
Hawk works at 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock. A native of Midland, Texas, he attended the University of Central Arkansas. While at UCA, he was active with the UCA baseball team and worked at the campus radio and TV stations.
Hawk was the play-by-play voice for the Bears baseball team for two seasons as well as working on the UCA postgame shows after every football and basketball game. Hawk also did special interest packages for the "Clint Conque Show" which aired in Conway on Channel 6 and KATV Channel 7 in Little Rock.
Hawk joined The Buzz in the summer of 2007 as an intern, and worked part-time as a producer. In July 2008, RJ was hired full-time, and now produces the Show With No Name from 6-10 a.m.
