FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Univ. of Ark.) -The University of Arkansas basketball teams will officially open the 2013-14 season with Hog Wild Hoops held on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Bud Walton Arena.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature the annual Red-White men's scrimmage at 3:30 p.m. with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. The Razorback women's basketball team will be introduced at halftime of the Red-White scrimmage, while the event will also include performances by the Arkansas Spirit Squads, contests and prizes for both Razorback students and fans. Following the Red-White game and after a short break, student-athletes and coaches will be available for autographs on the concourse.

Coaches and teams for the Red-White scrimmage will be unveiled at a later date.

Community and campus groups looking to help raise money for its cause can encourage fans to attend Hog Wild Hoops and sign up for a chance to win $500 for their charity and another $500 for the entrant, courtesy of Pepsi. Groups looking to participate in the contest will need to pre-register with the Arkansas Sports Marketing Office by sending an email to mkthogs@uark.edu with the organization name and point of contact information. A randomly selected fan from each of the top four pre-registered groups with the highest attendance at Hog Wild Hoops will have a chance to represent their organization in a halftime contest to win the prize money.

Hog Wild Hoops will also serve as a collection point for food items to benefit local food pantries. Coach Mike Anderson, Coach Tom Collen and the Razorback Department of Athletics encourage fans to bring two non-perishable food items for donation and collection bins will be located at each entrance to the arena.

Season tickets for Razorback basketball are on sale through the Razorback Ticket Center. Fans may call 1-800-982-HOGS (4647) or go online to www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com to purchase tickets. Mini plans are also on sale, ranging from $100-$150 per seat. The Cardinal Mini Plan includes showdowns with Clemson (Dec. 7), High Point (Dec. 28), Florida (Jan. 11), Auburn (Jan. 25) and LSU (Feb. 15). The White Mini Plan offers games at Bud Walton Arena against Texas-San Antonio (Jan. 4), Kentucky (Jan. 14), Alabama (Feb. 5), South Carolina (Feb. 19) and Georgia (Mar. 1).
