LONDON, UK (CBS) -- Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have given their approval to the first ever royal christening coins created in the UK. The coins will be produced by the Royal Mint in Llantrisant, South Wales.

The special coins are up for sale today and will commemorate the christening of the couple's son, Prince George.

Design Features:
-Lily Font from the Tower of London plus two cherubs playing the harpsichord
-The royal motto "Dieu et mon droit" - God and my right.

The royal child will be christened at St. James' Palace at the Chapel Royal later this month on October 23.

The limited edition gold "kilo coin" is being sold for $83,000.

The Royal Mint has reported that it has received thousands of pre-orders so far from within the UK and around the world.
