YELL COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Two residents of Yell County were arrested for growing marijuana inside the city limits of Havana.
According to Sheriff Bill Gilkey, Ronnie Clark, 52 and Kazan Clark, 62, were arrested after police learned they were operating a large scale marijuana farm on September 20. They were formally charged with Manufacturing a Schedule 6 Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Manufacturing in Proximity to Certain Facilities.
Police were notified that someone was harvesting marijuana in the area, said Gilkey. Chief Deputy John Foster said his deputies and state police seized around 20 plants from the Clarks' backyard that were 8-12 feet tall. They also found an additional 25-30 pounds of marijuana that were already harvested as well as several small plants.
15th Judicial District DTF Director Joe Patterson also said that officers seized 14 firearms and various items associated with the production of marijuana, and noted that the pair face criminal enhancements to the charges because the alleged operation was in close proximity to a city park and school.
The Clarks are being held in lieu of $2,500 bond. Ronnie Clark is currently incarcerated at the Danville Jail while Kazan has posted bond and was released pending court appearances, according to Foster.
