CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) - Calling all songwriters! A local competition could send you to Los Angeles. The Alchemy Songwriting Competition is accepting entries through Oct. 31, 2013. The contest supports Blackbird Academy, a Conway non-profit organization for arts education.

Applicants must be at least 13 years old to enter; there are categories for youth and adults. Genres include: Rock/Alternative, Country/Bluegrass, Gospel/Christian, Pop, R&B, and Folk. Prizes are awarded to the top winner in each genre and age group. The overall top ten will be invited to perform in front of the judges at The Alchemy Showcase on December 7. The grand prize winner will get a trip for two to L.A. and a recording session with award-winning producer, Warren Huart.

The judges of the competition include Arkansas native and American Idol finalist, Kris Allen, and songwriters Adam Hambrick and Jonathan Smith.
