LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (UCA) - The University of Central Arkansas swept the men's and women's team and individual titles at the UALR Invitational on Saturday at Murray Park.
Freshman Brooke Cassar won the women's 5K race in a time of 16:40.03, shattering her own school record by more than 25 seconds. Senior Erika Setzler finished second (16:57.25) as UCA had five finishers in the Top 10. UCA won the meet, followed by Lousiana-Lafayette, Arkansas State, UALR, UAPB, McMurry, Arkansas Tech and Henderson State.
UCA's Kayla Nehus finished fourth (17:54.21), while Brigette Caruthers was sixth (18:18.45) and Megan Effinger was eighth (18:34.26). Briana Stuepfort was 15th (19:17.92) and Casandra Rosas was 19th (19:40.72).
On the men's side, senior Edward Limo won the 8K title in a time of 24:27.44 as UCA placed four runners in the Top 10. Jonathan Burgess finished third (24:54.13), while Amos Gerber was fourth (24:56.33). Corentin Louis was sixth (25:05.72). Grant Williams finished 11th (25:23.82), Albert Maeder was 13th (25:34.42) and James Leonard was 15th (25:49.58).
