HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Seasons are changing and it is time for fall cleaning, which means out with the old and in with the new. But before you get too carried away it's important to pay attention to what you are throwing out. Some things are worth absolutely nothing. But on the other hand, you could possibly find something in your closet that could be worth some money.

Paul Russell, manager at Moonlight Antiques says, "People used to bring in Avon bottles ten years ago and we would actually buy them from them and resell them, and now, it's impossible to sell an Avon bottle."

Ashley Williams and Paul Russell work at Moonlight Antiques in Hot Springs. The two say they have seen a variety of goods come through their doors. So to help you figure out whether you should keep, ditch or sell your items, they've come up with a list of some of the most current popular items.

1: Antique luggage. Williams explains, "Most people don't realize that antique luggage has good value right now. People enjoy using to decorate, even make dog beds out of old suitcases."

2: Music records. Williams says, "They're interested in not only those albums but the sound that can only be created by an LP, not an MP3 player as we do today." Showing an example of a Jimmy Hendrix album she says, "This is a $50 album in this condition, on the other hand, something a little lesser known, 'The Letterman' this is basically worth a dollar."

3: Household hardware. "All your door knobs and your locks, they can be worth lots of money because people throw them away, therefore they're rare," Williams continues.

4: Holiday d├ęcor. She says, "People do not realize that their old ornaments, old paper machete candy containers, and of course sweet little elves get thrown away and people really want to collect those items."

5: China and glassware. Williams shows, "We have a piece of glass here. It's very lovely but it's not particularly old, it's from about the 60s and it's only worth about $10. Whereas glassware that's by a certain maker that's a little older, it could be worth up to $50."

Collectors and antique experts say rarity, age and condition are very important when it comes to determining the value of your collectibles.

Hopefully this year's fall cleaning will not only bring you an organized space, but a little extra cash in your wallets.
