LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV)- A two-year-old Hot Springs boy died from an undiagnosed disease just one week after showing flu-like symptoms for the first time.
Carson Zwetz was life flighted to Arkansas Children's Hospital November 26th after suffering from seizures due to high fever. He was later put on life support as he was unresponsive due to severe brain swelling. Dr. Michael Stroud told THV that all tests have been inconclusive to this point, and doctors didn't find any viruses in the boy's body.
"If your kid is sick and you see some symptoms don't take it for granted," said Carson's father Randy Zwetz. "A simple fever could turn into a trip to Children's in the helicopter and in turn could end up in fatality for your child so my advice to parents is react to your children's sickness as soon as possible."
A number of Hot Springs businesses have set up fundraisers for the Zwetz family. The following is a list of times and locations where 20% of purchases will go towards funeral and medical costs:
Chicken xpress 12/9, 6-8pm
Orange leaf 12/10, 5-9pm
TCBY 12/16, 5-8pm
New Orange Leaf 12/17, 5-9pm
A U.S. Bank account has also been set up in Carson Zwetz's name.
