MAGNOLIA, Ark. (SAU) - The Southern Arkansas baseball team will enter the 2014 season as the 13th-ranked team in Division II according to the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper preseason poll released on Tuesday.

Last year, the Muleriders were nationally-ranked throughout the season by Collegiate Baseball and finished the 2013 campaign with a record of 42-17 en route to repeating as Great American Conference regular season and tournament champions while also making their sixth-consecutive regional tournament appearance.

In 2014, the Muleriders return four starters from their lineup and five pitchers who made at least five appearances a year ago. All four of the returning position players hit at least .293 with two hitting over .300 and the five returning experienced pitchers combined to go 13-2 with a 3.49 ERA.

The Muleriders will open the 2014 season at home on Saturday, February 1 as they play host to Augustana College (S.D.) for a four-game set.
