SEARCY, Ark. (Harding) - The sixth-ranked Harding women's basketball team continued its record winning streak on Thursday as they defeated Southern Arkansas in Great American Conference action 70-59. The Lady Bisons improved to 16-0 overall and 8-0 in the GAC.

Senior forward Kristen Celsor captured her 13th double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Harding. Celsor made 7-of-13 from the field. Junior guard Montana Lewis had 14 points and junior guard Shana Holmes had 12 points, hitting two 3-pointers.

After leading 38-22 at halftime, Harding continued to build on its lead in the first five minutes of the second half as they led by as much as 21. With 11:22 left to play, Southern Arkansas began their comeback as they held Harding scoreless for the next five minutes as they cut the lead six on a 10-0 run. The Lady Bisons got a 3-pointer by freshman guard A'ndrea Haney on the next possession to put Harding back up by 10. Southern Arkansas again cut the lead to seven on a 3-pointer by junior guard Allie Wade with 1:23 left but back-to-back layups by the Lady Bisons put the game away.

Southern Arkansas (7-6, 3-4 GAC) was led by junior forward Chanel Miller who had 18 points, hitting 7-of-15 from the field. Miller also had 11 rebounds. Wade finished with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers.


For only the third time this season, Harding was outrebounded. Southern Arkansas came down with 49 and Harding had 33.

The Lady Bisons forced 26 Lady Mulerider turnovers. It was the most by an opponent this season. Harding also turned them into 25 points.


Harding had five blocks in the game and was led by Celsor who had a season-high four. She also picked up her 100th career block.


The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Saturday as they start a three-game road trip at Arkansas-Monticello. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
