LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - It was quite a sight on S. University Avenue Friday morning as drivers saw an unusual dead animal on the side of the road.

On Friday, Keith Stephens with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission confirmed that the animal appears to be a bobcat.

Danny Straessle with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department told THV11 he saw the large animal around 8:15 a.m.

Straessle said before AHTD could get to the animal, a city sanitation crew had already removed it between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The animal has since been buried, according to Straessle.

A woman who said she saw the animal Friday morning provided THV11 with a photo of a large cat, which is pictured in this article.

Susan Altrui with the Little Rock Zoo said the animal was not from the zoo; all of its large cats are safely in their habitats.

THV11 will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
