CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) -The Blackbird Academy of the Arts will present a new ballet performance called Alice on Feb. 15 and 16.

Director of dance and performances at Blackbird Academy of the Arts Carrie Miller said the ballet is a full-length, family-friendly show based off of Lewis Carroll's Adventures of Alice in Wonderland. The show has a cast of 50 and a volunteer committee of local artists and parents working on costumes, sets, and props.

The performance will be held at UCA's Reynolds Performance Hall. There are two performances open to the public on Sat., Feb. 15 at 7 p.m. and on Sun., Feb.16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children and are available through the Reynolds Box Office. Children's tickets are not available online.

In addition, children attending can go to a Mad Hatter's Tea Party after the Sunday matinee performance. This is a tea party for all ages, featuring characters from the ballet, games, and fun! Tickets are $10 at Blackbird Academy of Arts.

The academy holds open auditions around November, and then spends approximately three months putting their shows together. Students and the other cast members have the chance to perform in a state-of-the art facility with professional lighting and sound.

Blackbird Academy of Arts is a non-profit arts academy dedicated to bringing quality arts education to the Conway area. They have classes in music, art, creative writing, dance, theatre, sewing, and film, and also host a variety of performances, workshops, and master classes throughout the year.
