LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- We're celebrating Black History Month on "THV 11 This Morning".

Today we're taking a look at the role of music and dance in African American culture.

Leah Patterson with Leah's School of Latin Dance stopped by to show a few moves and give us a little history lesson.

According to About.com, the African influence made a huge impact on Latin music and dance. To quote the site, "Samba, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Timba, and many more, are just some of the rhythms that have been shaped by African beats."
