LINCOLN COUNTY, Ark.(KTHV) - The father of Zack Towers said his son's death came sudden.
"(I) got a call early this morning that he (Zack)was being transferred to the hospital and by the time I got there he was already gone," said Jim Towers, Zack's father.
Towers said Zack suffered neuro storms after collapsing on a football field in November of 2012.
"There toward the end of the third quarter he collapsed there on the 30-yard line in between plays. I can still see it in my mind just like it happened," said Towers.
He said Zack would never fully recover and remained in a coma for five months after the incident.
Towers said he and Zack's mom made the decision more than a month ago to puttheir sonin an inpatient rehabilitation center.
"He was pretty expressive with his face. He could smile. He could roll his head slightly to one side or the other," said Towers.
"I wouldn't say his condition deteriorated. Those neuro storms got worse and worse, but on the days that he didn't have those neuro storms he was doing ok for the condition he was in," he adds.
A visitationfor Zack will be held,Friday from5 p.mto 8 p.m. atthe First Baptist Church in Star City.
The Funeral will be held at the same church, Saturday at 1 p.m.
