(CNN) -- Rare photos of snow leopard unveiled by forestry department of Henan Mongolian Autonomous County, northwest China's Qinghai Province.

According to the department, two rare photos were taken on Dec. 20 and 22 of 2013, showing an adult snow leopard on a rock. Researchers said they were not sure the snow leopards in two photos were the same one.

The department said photos and videos of snow leopards have been captured for eight times in Qinghai since August of 2011.

The wild snow leopards, whose population has dwindled from 7,000 to 4,000 globally due to poaching and shrinking habitats, are listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)'s Red List of Threatened Species.
