LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Two of the Republicans running for Arkansas lieutenant governor have made their bids official for the state's No. 2 office.
U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin and state Rep. Andy Mayberry were among the dozens of candidates who filed for office at the start of the one-week filing period Monday. Griffin was accompanied by his 3-year-old son, John, while Mayberry was joined by his wife, Julie, who is running for his state House seat.
Griffin announced last year he would not seek re-election to Congress but earlier this month said he would seek the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor. Mayberry launched his campaign last year.
State Rep. Debra Hobbs is the other announced Republican candidate, while former highway commissioner John Burkhalter is the only announced Democratic candidate.
