LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- On the 11th of every month, THV 11 brings you what you need know about heart health. Today we're talking about a condition that doctors say is pretty common: irregular heartbeats.
UAMS cardiologist Dr. Hakan Paydak shared more on "THV 11 This Morning".
One of the types of arrhythmia that causes irregular heartbeat is atrial fibrillation (AF). UAMS reports this is when the electrical signals that control heartbeat fire rapidly and chaotically.
UAMS says the symptoms of AF are:
- Heart palpitations or fluttering in the chest
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Dizziness and faintness
