LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Today's THV partners with the AR Rice Depotagain to collect diapers for families in need.
It's hard to even imagine this, as a parent, what if you couldn't provide diapers for your child? What if you had to keep your baby in a soiled diaper longer or clean it out to reuse it? What if you lost your job? What if you lost your home to a disaster? It's a reality for thousands of parents here in Arkansas. Many forced to chose between buying diapers and other necessities.
That's why Today's THV is once again partnering with the Arkansas Rice Depot for our 2nd Annual "Diaper Drive." Lauren McElroy, Vice President of the Arkansas Rice Depot joins THV's Liz Massey on Today's THV at 5 to talk about the upcoming drive. And on Today's THV at 6, Tammy Stamp with the Crisis Pregnancy Center in North Little Rock talks about how the Rice Depot helps her organization help parents in need.
During our first drive last July, we collected more than 67,000 diapers to help families that can't afford them. Thank you so much for helping us make the drive a success! However, the need is so great, the diapers only last a few months. So, this year, we've set a goal of raising 100,000 diapers and we know we can do it but we need your help!
The first drive will kick off this Friday, July 6th at the Cabot Walmart. That's when a collection box will be set up at the front so people can drop off their donations. The box will be there until Tuesday, July 10th, that's when THV's Liz Massey will broadcast live from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The next drive will begin July 13th at the Maumelle Walmart. It will run through Tuesday, July 17th when Liz will broadcast live again from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
And the final drive will begin July 20th at the Conway Walmart on Highway 65 North. Liz's final diaper drive livebroadcast will be on Tuesday the 24th where we'll announce the final diaper drive numbers!
We are encouraging you to get your church, community organization or business involved to help keep Arkansas babies in need healthy and well. Any donation is welcome, including cloth diapers and monetary donations.
