LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Oak Grove fire chief died Wednesday from injuries he sustained in a car accident.

Chief Randy Pogue was critically injured Feb. 2 when his work truck slid on a patch of ice, left the roadway, and landed in a ditch on the driver side. At the time of the accident he was conscious and alert, but he went into Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome when he reached the hospital.

He had been in ICU since the accident on a ventilator in a medically induced coma.

THV's Meredith Mitchell reports Chief Pogueis the fourth fireman in Arkansas to die in the line of duty in the lastthree weeks.

Pogue was a firefighter for 32 years. First serving with the United States Air Force, then with the Oak Grove Fire Department for 12 years. He leaves behind a wife and four children.

The visitation will be held Feb. 27 at Roller Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral is the following day Feb. 28 at Mac Arthur Assembly of God at 2:30 p.m.
