JACKSON COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - The sheriff and animal control officials in Jackson County are trying to figure out what has killed about a dozen animals.

Sheriff David Lucas said around 10 to 12 household animals, mostly dogs and a few cats, turned up dead along county road 63 in Jackson County.

They're not certain what's causing it, but have some suspicions. Witnesses in the area said they've noticed a large pile of chicken waste and manure nearby and said the deaths started happening after it spread.
