NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Due to school construction projects and a loss of 100 parking spaces for students, there will be a large number of students who will now be crossing Main Street at various times throughout the day to get to West Campus.
The North Little Rock Police Department is asking motorists who travel in the area around the North Little Rock High School West Campus to please be mindful of these students crossing Main Street to get to West Campus.
Traffic enforcement in the area around West Campus will be increased. Motorist need to remember the following safety rules when traveling through ANY school zone:
1. School Zone speed limit is 25 miles per hour.
2. Pedestrians have the right of way in the crosswalks.
3. NO cell phone may be used while operating a motor vehicle when passing a school building or school zone during school hours when children are present and outside the building.
