LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – On Friday in the capitol city, students from the Little Rock school district got to practice their fire fighting skills.

A portion of the Skills USA Competition takes place in Hot Springs, but today it was hosted in Little Rock.

Students had to navigate through a variety of scenarios, testing the skills they've been practicing.

The Little Rock fire captain said he's excited to host the competition.

"We are hosting it here in order to show other people and other schools what we have in hopes of getting them involved in what we have and start programs in their own place."

The Skills USA partnership between the Little Rock school district and the fire department is the only partnership of its kind in the state.
