PARAGOULD, Ark. (KTHV) – On Wednesday, Arkansas State Police arrested Dr. Paul Becton Jr., 68, of Paragould for video voyeurism in Newport.
The warrant, issued by Greene County District Judge Dan Stidham, charges Becton with five counts of video voyeurism, a class D felony.
Scott Ellington, Prosecuting Attorney for the Second Judicial District, said that the investigation by the Arkansas State Police centered on allegations that Becton, an OBGYN, took nude photographs of a female patient during a medical examination without her knowledge, consent or approval.
The patient became suspicious after the examination that she may have been photographed and reported her concern to the Paragould Police Department. Paragould police requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police, which took over the investigation and executed a search warrant and found evidence corroborating the patient's complaint.
Becton specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and maintains a private OBGYN practice in Paragould, the Becton Women's Clinic. The prosecutor said the hospital where Becton practices and the Arkansas Medical Board have both been notified of the allegations. In addition, Ellington said that the doctor has not seen any patients this week.
