LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A decision made back in January is finally seeing action on Friday.

Officials gathered in the White River national wildlife refuge for an official renaming ceremony honoring a former Arkansas governor.

Congress voted to rename the refuge the Dale Bumpers White River National Wildlife refuge.

Bumpers was the 38th governor of Arkansas and four-term US senator.

While in office he was seen as advocate for wildlife and nature conservation.
