LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – After the bodies of two people were found on a property in Cleburne County, the son of the victims is being charged with murder.
April 21, detectives from the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into unusual activity in the bank accounts of 61-year-old Gerald Nickelson and his wife 58-year-old Rhonda Nickelson who lived on McJester Road.
Family members were concerned about the welfare of the couple and the deputies haven't been able to find them.
According to Cleburne County Coroner Warren Olmstead, he was called the home on McJester Road Tuesday after detectives developed new information. He said two bodies were found inside a structure on the property. There was found the remains of, who authorities believe, is Gerald and Rhonda Nickelson. The positive identification will be determined after autopsies are conducted.
Olmstead said it appeared they had been there several months, and it appears to be homicide.
Affidavits were presented to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office Wednesday morning charging 25-year-old Justin Nickelson with two counts of Capital Murder. Justin Nickelson is the son of the victims and also lived at the residence at McJester Road.
He is currently in custody in the White County Detention Center on an unrelated charge and will be transported to the Cleburne County Detention in the near future. At this time no bond has been set.
