VILONIA, Ark. (KTHV) - One Vilonia family's connection to New Orleans has led to a recovery donation drive there for the family and their entire neighborhood.
The Conways said minutes before a tornado turned their house inside out in Vilonia, they were inside with their 8-year-old and 7-month-old children.
"We had 18 people in here..."
Across the street, the Michel family emerged from their storm shelter Sunday, also to nothing, but rescued numerous neighbors injured, without hesitation.
Both families have connections to New Orleans, and those connections are working hard to help.
Co-workers of Nick Conway, who travels to his New Orleans job about once a month, have started collecting clothes for the children at a toy store in New Orleans. Organizers are hoping to get way more than the family needs to spread the help to the rest of their neighbors too.
It's a favor that New Orleanians know about getting, and one Vilonia family is now hoping to pay it forward in the future.
