VILONIA, Ark. (KTHV) – Textbooks are being replaced with chainsaws as teachers become construction workers.
More than 100 Vilonia school employees converged on the damaged schools to get things back to normal for the community.
"Just to get it back to where it was…it will always be home no matter what it looks like," said 2nd grade teacher Melissa Rickett as she raked up debris at the Early Learning Center
Assistant Superintendent Cathy Riggins said class could resume Friday or the beginning of next week.
"I think the electricity is back on in some places," she said. "We're not going to be able to make that judgment until we can make sure everything is ready for them."
