LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A 22-month-old died after his father accidentally left him in a car in Georgia. It sparked a huge debate on the THV 11 Facebook page, being shared 1,100 times.

Joey, Mason and Laeton mean the world to Tara Wilson.

"They mean everything," said Wilson.

And her three boys are always on her mind.

"Before this, I thought how could you," said Wilson. "How could you do that? It is your child."

Wilson said she has a strict routine and does the same thing every morning. But on one morning, about two months ago, things were not the same. Wilson brought her middle son, Mason, with her to work because he had a doctor's appointment.

"I had realized I had rode 40 miles and forgot the child was in the car with me," said Wilson.

She said she opened the door to get her younger child out...

Wilson added, "And there was Mason. He was just

quiet. It could be catastrophic."

Since 2000, more than 500 children have died from heat stroke because they were left in cars on warm days. Since 2006, there has been more than 30 deaths. A majority of moms and dads say they would never make the mistake of leaving their children in the car.

"It is your child," said Shea Pickens. "No. There is no way. I mean how can you forget your child."

Autumn Starks added, "Absolutely not. I am conscious that he is there all the time."

"I honestly do not see how anyone could forget," said Brian Surgeoner.

"Even when they are not in the car, I still check the back seat," said Fawn Surgeoner.

If you want to eliminate even the slightest possibility of leaving your child in the backseat by accident there are a few steps you can take to give yourself an extra reminder. You can put the diaper bag in the front seat next to you or you can put your cellphone in the back seat with the sound on.

"It is simple it sounds cliché, but it works," said Wilson.

And remember to look before you lock.

"I am telling you," said Wilson. "We are creatures of habit and when you are in that zone of that everyday you can forget."

On a day when it is in the 70s, the temperature in a car can increase by 30 to 40 degrees in an hour. Heat stroke may occur when body temperature passes 104 degrees Fahrenheit.
