HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - While Heber Springs is known for its lake, it was actually the spring waters that started attracting people there in the 1800s.
The push behind the popularity came from the rumored healing powers of the water. Had it not been for these springs, there would be no town.
The seven springs in the city supposedly keep the cataracts out of your eyes and keep your eyesight sharp, and for hundreds of years the people of Cleburne County thanked the seven springs for their good health and long lives.
"My dad's family moved to Heber Springs when he was a little boy, and his very first job was picking up crutches in this park. People came in here to drink the water and throw their crutches away," said Mickey Barnett, a retired physician.
