JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) – On Tuesday, a ribbon cutting ceremony for a Fallen Heroes Memorial garden and monument took place.
The new memorial is at the Jacksonville Fire and Police complex and has been under construction for the past year.
Alderman Barbara Mashburn said the community wanted this project to honor fallen heroes.
"The importance of the Fallen Heroes Memorial is to not only have the name of the fallen heroes etched in stone but it also helps in the grieving process of the family members that are left behind," said Mashburn.
The bricks on the memorial are being sold for $100. The money raised will be used to maintain the project.
