BULL SHOALS, Ark. (KTHV) - The former Bull Shoals police chief federally charged with use of excessive force, plead not guilty in court on Wednesday.

Former chief Daniel Sutterfield was arrested and charged after allegedly kicking, stomping and using a stun gun on a man he arrested last year.

Sutterfield was charged in federal court with depriving the man of his rights and trying to cover it up by ordering an officer to falsify records.

Federal attorneys say they have evidence that Sutterfield committed similar acts against two people in 2012, however, Sutterfield's attorney said there isn't sufficient evidence to prove those claims.

Sutterfield's trial is scheduled to begin next Tuesday in Harrison.
