SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - The Young Professionals of Sherwood hosted their first-ever Sherwoof Dog Day.

The city's animal shelter wants to take its adoption programs on the road, and to do that, they need a mobile unit, so Darrell Brown's group wanted to help.

"Right now the Sherwood Animal Shelter doesn't have [a mobile program], so if they want to take dogs available for adoption to events such as this, they have to take them in their own cars or trucks," explained Brown. "So this will allow them to have a very nice mobile unit to be able to take the dogs and get more of them out there and hopefully adopted."

Brown said his group has many dog owners; they saw this event as a way to give back to the community.
