LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - As people were looking to escape the heat Saturday, Stop the Violence offered them a way to with a pool party at the Southwest Community Center in addition to showing them how to stop the cycle of violence.

After a rise in violent crime this summer, Stop the Violence and community leaders wanted to share their wisdom and help others find strength during the party.

"We're trying to push out peace. You know peace across all communities," said Tracy Johnson and Nick Thomas, two organizers for the party. "Nick is very involved in the city. He has a Facebook blog where he talks a lot about a lot of different things promoting peace in the neighborhoods in the community."

In addition to the swimming and interaction, they held a balloon release. Thomas said the goal is to get everyone together and show it's not always about crime in the community.
