LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -Robert Hesse, host of the upcoming Drum Corp International Event, joined THV11 Studios Saturday morning to talk about the Drume Corps' upcoming performance.
The show is on Wednesday and will feature bands such as the Blue Coats from Canton, Ohio; defending world champion Carolina Crown. Nine of the top world corps are going to be here for the biggest show to-date.
Hesse said being in a corps is like being addicted to being in marching band. They do things that are much more challenging, much more difficult, and really push it to the outer limits. They have themes for their shows and just enthrall you with entertainment. They've been rehearsing all year, and they tour all summer long, all over the United States. They rehearse every day and are adding new things to the show, trying to make it even more entertaining.
The Blue Coats are doing a show called Tilted, so they've put a perimeter around the field that actually makes the field look tilted, and all of their actions and body movements follow that theme. There are horns tilted, teeter totters on the field, and you'll see people moving up on top of tilted platforms.
This performance is this Wednesday at War Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. July 23. Tickets are on sale at DCI.org or at the box office the day of.
