For the Forest Heights STEM Academy, Sunday brought a chance to meet and greet a new batch of students. The school is transitioning to a science-technology-engineering and math program this fall, which makes the gathering important for the families heading into the new school year.

"We're letting parents know that we're ready," confirmed Dr. Maurecia Robinson. "The teachers have been involved with professional development, with aligning their curriculum to get prepared for the school year."

A similar gathering will be on Thursday for the Geyer Springs Gifted and Talented Academy. Parents and teachers will meet at the River Market beginning at 6 p.m.
