HOPE, Ark. (KTHV) – Hope kicked off its 38th Annual Watermelon Festival on Thursday.

The festival runs until Saturday night and features a variety of events including a dog show, a singing contest called "Watermelon Idol," an arm wrestling contest and the crowd favorite, the seed spitting contest.

There will be music events all weekend, with country musician David Nail closing out the festival Saturday night.
